Emblematic fountain
This fountain is one of the most emblematic places in the historical center of Viana and a meeting point for tourists and locals. It's in Republic Square, opposite the House of Mercy and the Old Town Hall, and it's a granite Renaissance ornamental fountain from the eighteenth century by master stonemason João Lopes (nicknamed O Velho) and it providing drinking water to the population. The central column is a topped with elements representing animal figures and it's listed as a National Monument.
