Fotress and Tribute Tower
Melgaço is a small quiet village that grew around the fortress contracted by the then first king of Portugal D. Alfonso Henriques. Inside the fortress is the center Tribute Tower that dominates the narrow streets and now forms the museum center of Melgaço. Around the fort and the Alameda is a terrace cafe, where you can have some coffee, a nice statue known as "Black Agnes"and archway overlooking the historic center. In this town we find the Casa del Alvariño (sale of wine), the Mother Church and the Film Museum, which you can access for 1 €.
