Explore & Relax!
Fort Stevens was once a strategic trade site turned into a military defense site, but now is a beautiful 4,200 acre park along the coastline near Astoria, Oregon. It's a great area to explore multiple bicycle trails, hiking paths, historic sites, lakes, and the wondrous beach coastline itself. The pristine beach stretches as far as the eye can see and is lined with windswept grassy dunes. The dark, firm sand is excellent for strolling, biking, or horseback riding on. Driving onto the beach is even allowed, but don't worry; there is no traffic. Just the occasional sightseers and picnickers wanting to get further down the coast quickly in their car.
