A Peaceful Place to Pay Respect
The Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is the most beautiful, serene, peaceful and pristine Veteran's Cemetery I have ever seen. Miles of grave and memorial sites span out overlooking downtown San Diego and the sparkling Pacific Ocean. It is a very quiet space, with people coming and going to pay their respects to the resting soldiers. This is also the location of the Cabrillo National Monument and the Point Loma Lighthouse, as well as some beautiful tide pools that you can hike or drive down to. There is a small Visitor's Centre and gift shop on site as well. Entrance by a small fee, I think it was around $5.
