The city of La Laguna is a heritage site dating back to the year 1999, and the Convent of Santo Domingo is part of that heritage. The convent of Santo Domingo was one of those places where I loved to go during my college days. It was a place where you could completely relax, where I could read a book or play a game of chess with friends (I always lost, I have no patience) or just sit and think with the sound of the water and birds. They also have exhibitions or courses organized by the Culture Department of the City Council. A little secret, from the second floor in the exhibition area at the bottom

Where the service is a ladder climb on it and enjoy the view over the roofs of the city ;)

El Antiguo Convento de Santo Domingo de Guzmán se encuentra en la [poi=116595]Plaza de Santo Domingo[/poi] y, junto con su [poi=116602]Iglesia[/poi] anexa, el edificio ha sido declarado Bien de Interés Cultural con la categoría de Monumento desde 1.986. Lo más destacable de su exterior es la espadaña del siglo XVIII, construida en piedra destacando con el resto de su fachada. En el interior, tiene un bonito claustro con un espacio ajardinado y un pozo en el centro; tiene dos alturas y la planta superior, formada por un corredor de madera, está sustentada por columnas de mármol blanco. El convento ha tenido diversos usos a lo largo de su historia: Convento dominico, monasterio de monjas, cátedra de teología, colegio, biblioteca pública, cárcel eclesiástica, residencia episcopal, seminario diocesano, centro de educación de adultos... Desde el año 2002 acoge la sede de la Concejalía de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico del Ayuntamiento de La Laguna. Es visita obligada su [poi=116602]Iglesia[/poi], su interior es una auténtica preciosidad.
