Former Convent of El Carmen

In the historic center of Vila do Conde we stumbled upon Convent del Carmen in Plaza del Carmen. It was built in 1765 for religious purposes, was retrofitted in 1835 as a court, in 1988, it became municipal property and was recovered again to host the Local Technical Office (GTL), which is the municipal body responsible for urban rehabilitation of the old town. Aesthetically the exterior did not catch our attention, except for the granite front of what was the old convent church.
