Fontana della Medusa

Allontanandosi dal centro del paese, a Nemi, per dirigersi oltre un archetto che porta a un belvedere davvero super sul lago omonimo, si passa su una piazzetta dedicata a una rappresentante della famiglia Ruspoli, Berry. Qui, si fa la conoscenza di una fontanella davvero insolita, realizzata dall'artista locale Luciano Mastrolorenzi, assemblando in modo singolare il bronzo del tondo con il viso della Medusa e i suoi capelli di serpenti, a un corpo ottenuto in mattoncini e tufo peperino. Un altro elemento degno di nota è la presenza, sulla vaschetta dove arriva l'acqua, di una targhetta in bronzo con una scritta in alfabeto runico germanico. Chi si è dilettato a tradurre la frase, ha scoperto che si tratta di una informazione sull'autore della scultura. Insomma l'artista si è divertito a mettere insieme simboli di culture diverse, per la nostra gioiosa curiosità.

Moving away from the town center, and Nemi, to head over a headband that leads to a really super lookout on the lake of the same name, we pass a small square dedicated to a representative of the Ruspoli family, Berry. Here, he makes the acquaintance of a very unusual drinking fountain, made by local artist Luciano Mastrolorenzi, assembling in a unique way the round bronze with the face of Medusa and her hair of snakes, a body obtained in bricks and tuff tuff. Another noteworthy element is the presence, on the reservoir where the water comes, a bronze plaque with an inscription in Germanic Runic alphabet.
