Age old renovated fountain
This fountain was constructed at a multi-road intersection to provide water for the eighth extension of the city. It was a medieval neighbourhood with straight streets, a change that occurred from the sixteenth century onward, and led to the great road from Aix to Marseille. The fountain received its water supply from City Hall. It was renovated after the French Revolution because it was so poorly maintained. Only the sculptures remain from the original fountain, the rest was completely renovated in 1861 because there was a leak. The statues are of Jean Chastel. It was built with regional stone and you can see Escursan lion heads.
