3 reviews of Corsica Ferry

Spectacular views

Corsica is a wonderful island that you should visit a least once in your life. To get there you have two options, boat or plane. Of course it depends on how you like to travel, but personally I recommend that you go by ferry, especially if you can take your own vehicle. Corsica is an island that doesn't have much public transport, so this can be the best way to get around. There are two major companies that make daily trips from France to Corsica, Corsica Ferries, and SNCM. The former is slightly cheaper, and has the very important advantage that you can buy online, while with SNCM you can only book by phone.

We chose Corsica Ferries for this reason. The most common routes are from Marseille or Toulon, although there are other cities that you can depart from, and the most frequent destinations in Corsica are Ajaccio, Bastia and Ill Rousse. We went from Toulon to Bastia, and the trip lasted 9 or 10 hours - good thing we took the overnight ferry. The ferries are huge, with everything you can imagine: hundreds of cabins, lounges, four different coffee shops, two restaurants, a games room, an outdoor pool, a playground for the kids, a store, etc. If you take your car, you'll need to get there an hour in advance and wait in the huge queue of five hundred cars or so. In winter, the prices are a pretty good value, but they jump in summer. The views are spectacular, so don't forget your camera.
