Simonetta Di Zanutto
A modern street
Leaving the Turkish quarter, you enter the modern pedestrian street of Ferhadija, which was the centre of the city during Habsburg rule. The city has such an extraorindary fusion between east and west, a feature that was has done its best to destroy, but luckily failed. On this street, with Habsburg palaces, you can see the Catholic and Orthodox Cathedrals, the synagogue, and mosque, all within a few metres. There's no better way to discover the cosmopolitan city of Sarajevo than by walking on this street!
