A great day
"You can take the tour, but sightings here won't start for another week."
What bad luck! It was November, the 10th day of our trip. We were in Maui. We dreamed of seeing a whale for the first time in our lives. We chose a company, Pacific Whale Foundation, which also seemed to care about the environment, respect animals and not stress them out, in addition to running a fine research program. It is based in the port of Maalea. We took the afternoon excursion. There were only a few of us, and the mood was low. But something inside me told me that against all odds, something good would happen. We started the journey with a some great views and interesting information about humpback whales. I tried to listen while also keeping my eyes fixed on the horizon...but there was nothing out there.
