Excursion to the Indian Nose

We went to Nariz del Indio, a mountain by lake Atitlan in Guatemala. The lake is stunning, 128 square miles, surrounded by hills and volcanoes. The trail leads to Nariz del Indio, a mountain that seems to draw the profile of an Indian in the sky: his forehead, eyes, mouth and chin. 1000 meters high, we walked on a dirt path excavated by the region's natives, who continue to cultivate corn and beans. The roads are very deep and not very wide. The sun is high in the sky, heating the coffee and avocado plants. As we walked we met people from the village of Santa Elena.
