Evol is a tiny corner, located in the town of Olette, and goes completely unnoticed, unless you look closely at a brief indication on the main road that runs through the town. I think they do it to keep this gem safe from mass tourism ;-). Is true of a place that is beautiful, not too busy, a feast for the senses ... any adjective you use is insufficient for summarising this place's effect on me . Listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France, in my opinion, earned, Evol invites you to relax, to walk, to get lost among the streets, photographing every place, every house, every stone, invites you to enjoy its environment and landscape.
Its few inhabitants are open to visitors and love to decorate and arrange their facades. During our trip, we found several caring for their plants, cleaning the street or chatting animatedly with another neighbor. Despite the paucity of inhabitants, Evol has life and purity, as a, rural village. As in the rest of the municipalities and towns we visited in this part of the Pyrenees, Evol has a Catalan past, important during the Middle Ages serving a strategic role in an area of ongoing battles between France and Spain. Village life goes hand in hand with cattle raising and farming, which together with the perfect preservation of traditional architecture shale walls and slate roofs give a beautiful rural touch. Do not rush around, get ready for a heavy dose of beauty, natural beauty, no over-saturation, just everyday beauty. Walking leisurely, enjoy every corner and at the end you will see Evol: stunning views of Mont coronat, the amazing church of Sant Andreu (national monument) and the remains of a medieval castle that is so charming ... Without doubt, so far, the most beautiful of the beautiful villages of France ;-). A paradise I share with you!
