Argentine Gauchos
The rooms used to be places used by Argentine Gauchos who looked after cattle and who lived here for long periods during the grazing season, far from urban areas. They were equipped with pens, a fireplace with coals and enough to survive. Actually, many of them have become tourist attractions to give tourists the idea of what life was like for these gauchos (although many still live well). One is "The shed" near Calafate , where a chartered bus takes you to a daily evening spectacle where you shear a sheep in one piece, dance traditional dances, and eat delicious barbecued meat.
