Father of Chinese railways
The Tien Yow-Jieme Sculpture is located in a small square near the Huang Sha fish market. Usually it goes unnoticed because the sculpture is not particularly famous and the environment isn't exactly beautiful. The person represented, Tien Yow-Jieme, was born in Guangzhou and is considered the father of railways in China. He studied civil engineering at Yale and brought the railroad to the country. His whole life was dedicated to the expansion of the network.
