Errekalde Jauregia

La Historia del palacio de Errekalde viene marcada por el alzamiento o matxinada de 1718 que, entre otras, dio fuego al palacio que había sustituído a la primitiva casa torre. Quizás la entrada exterior al sótano sea un recuerdo de la construcción del XVI, si bien algunos elementos de este edificio decimonónico, como su cornisa recuerdan, precisamente, al edificio primogenio. En su interior, en cambio, reinan la luz y los espacios bien ordenados y amplios, destacando la majestuoso escalera central. El edificio fue elegido por el Conde de Peñaflorida como su residencia mientras velaba por el Real Seminario y su entorno. Y en él encontró refugió otro ilustrado de renombre, Valentín Foronda. El jardín de mediados del XIX que rodea el edificio es una de las perlas de Bergara. Naturaleza y Ciencia se unen en este espacio verde, pues además de las especies vegetales impresionan su organización y su sistema de recogida, depuración y conducción de agua, reflejo aplicado, puede ser, de las investigaciones del Seminario.
