Episcopal Palace

El Palacio del Obispado de Málaga, está situado en la Plaza del Obispo, junto a la catedral, y suele mostrar exposiciones temporales variadas, ( aún recuerdo la primera de las obras de Picasso hace bastantes años) pero sobre todo es interesante de ver por el edificio en sí, una preciosa obra arquitectónica. El Palacio Episcopal comprende un conjunto de bellisimos edificios, que´se mandó construir bajo el obispado de Laso de Castila en el año 1762. La fachada principal tiene una impresionante portada, construida con mármoles de varios colores y veteado. En el tercer piso de la fachada, hay una hornacina con una imagen de la Virgen de las Angustias, obra del escultor Manuel Agustín Valero. En su interior, hay un patio con una escalera de tipo imperial que lleva a las salas donde actualmente se realizan las exposiciones. Este precioso palacio fué destruido en el año 1931, aunque pasada la guerra se acometió su reconstrucción en el año 1945.En el interior, también están los jardines privados del obispo, que cuenta con unos maravillosos azulejos del siglo XVIII. Junto con la catedral ( la fachada principal dá también a la plaza del Obispo) forman uno de los conjuntos arquitectónicos más bonitos y visitados. Como dato curioso os diré que también ha sido varias veces escenario de películas, como por ejemplo 'El puente de San Luis Rey'.

Mezcla de estilos y órdenes, de volúmenes y tamaños, de formas y caprichos. Según qué obispo llevara las riendas de la iglesia malagueña, qué familia patrocinara las obras o qué época transcurriera, así iba tomando forma el conjunto de edificios que conforman el palacio episcopal. Aunque de todo el conjunto, yo me quedaría, como primera impresión con la preciosa fachada, en especial la puerta con el balcón en la parte superior por supuesto el espacioso patio, alrededor del cual se estructuraba la vida religiosa y administrativa del obispado malagueño. En el momento de la visita, el edificio estaba ocupado por una exposición sobre la Sabana Santa, por lo que no pude fotografiar el interior. Su función es actualmente esa, servir de lugar de muestras y exposiciones para nutrir la necesidad cultural de la ciudad de Málaga.

El Palacio Episcopal obra maestra de la arquitectura civil malagueña, comprende una gran manzana compuesta de dos unidades del siglo XVI, mas una tercera destinada a la residencia del prelado, de fines del siglo XVIII, de la que es autor Antonio Ramos. La fachada principal tiene una portada construida con mármoles de diversos colores; en una hornacina, en el tercer piso se sitúa una Virgen de las Angustias de Manuel Agustín Valero. Su patio interior da acceso a la escalera que lleva al actual espacio expositivo, que se mantiene ocupado la mayor parte del año. El edificio fue destruido en 1931 y reconstruido en 1945. En su interior destaca el Jardín privado del obispo con azulejos del XVIII. Junto a la Catedral y la plaza del Obispo forma uno de los rincones más bellos de Málaga. Actualmente parte del edificio ha sido adaptado para sede del Museo Diocesano del Arte Sacro de la ciudad de Málaga.

Près de la cathédrale se situe le palais épiscopal. Impossible de le rater avec sa façade rouge, ses colonnes baroques, et la vierge de las Angustias de Ortiz de Vargas. La façade du XVIIIème, elle est donc plus récente que le palais qui lui date du XVIème siècle et aurait été construit pour l'évêque Diego Ramírez de Villanueva de Haro. a l'intérieur on peut y voir un escalier impérial et un patio où se mélangent les styles renaissances et mudéjar.
