Calm and pristine

To the north of the old town of L'Escala lie the calm and pristine beaches of Empúries. Nearby the Museu de l'Anxova i Sal and beside the commemorative sculpture on the arrival of the Olympic flame in Empúries, created for the occasion of the celebration of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, begins a journey laced with perfumes and pine shadows, and in some areas, dunes and remains of the ruins of Empúries. This path begins in L'Escala and leads to Sant Martí d'Empúries, which is a pedestrian path and cycle route to each of the Empúries beaches. There is only one possible choice if you want an unspoilt beach complete with snack bar and sun loungers to rent, a large beach promenade and a picturesque village ...

Or choose a corner in Quilométrica beach which begins in Sant Martí d'Empúries and ends at the mouth of the river Fluvia in Sant Pere Pescador. Both of the Empúries beaches are sandy and slightly rocky underneath. At one, visitors have the chance to swim alongside a Hellenistic jetty. Each of these beaches would be a great choice.
