A noisy place
It often takes a few times passing Empanada Mama before you finally recognize it and slip into one of the few tables there, a noisy place staffed by an unlikely mixture of Russian waitresses and Mexican cooks. The guacamole (served with homemade tortillas) is some of the best in NY according to my brother, who lived there for five years, and the empanadas are a delight. Some rustic dishes complement the menu. We dined copiously for $15-20. And the cocktail menu is worth a look ;)
