Emílio Goeldi Park

O Parque Zoobotânico Emílio Goeldi, mais uma parada obrigatória para quem vai à capital paraense com crianças e/ou gosta de fotografar. Com 5,2 hectares e inaugurado em 1895, o parque é considerado o mais antigo do Brasil desse gênero. O espaço é impressionante, um pedaço da floresta amazônica totalmente preservado em pleno coração de Belém. O Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi, que se encontra dentro do parque, é mundialmente reconhecido como uma das mais importantes instituições de investigação científica sobre a Amazônia brasileira. O suíço Émil August Goeldi veio ao Brasil em 1893 e logo assumiu a direção do museu, dois anos depois inaugurou o parque com o intuito de apresentar um pouco da flora e fauna regionais proporcionando lazer e educação para a população. Trabalho que segue até hoje e muito bem feito. O parque é um disputado ponto de lazer nos fins de semana, famílias completas passeando e entrando em contato direto com os mais de 2.000 tipos de árvores nativas da floresta amazônica e os 600 animais, muitos deles ameaçados de extinção. A cada passo uma nova descoberta. Crianças até 10 anos entram de graça e os demais pagam simbólicos R$ 4,00.
