Embalse de Tahodio

Introducción: En el día de hoy nos hemos propuesto realizar una ruta senderista por el Barranco de Tahodio, situado en la cara sur del Parque Rural de Anaga y que pertenece al Municipio de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Baja desde la Cruz del Carmen, en el Monte de Las Mercedes, hasta la costa. En este barranco se encuentra el Embalse de Tahodio, antigua charca que abastecía de agua a la ciudad. Su construcción se terminó en 1914. Desde aquí podemos conectar con otros núcleos poblacionales, siguiendo los antiguos senderos: Pico del Inglés, Cruz del Carmen, Jardina, Los Campitos, Las Mercedes, Valleseco y Los Catalanes. El Valle de Tahodio tiene como afluente principal el barranco de Valle Luis. Destacar también que este camino real sirvió para la llegada de refuerzos, desde La Laguna, para rechazar el ataque del Contralmirante Nelson el 25 de Julio de 1797. Como llegar: Frente al Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, junto al Muelle Norte, subimos hacia el Barrio de La Alegría por la Avenida de José Martí. Continuamos en paralelo al Barranco de Tahodio durante 3,5 kms, pasando por Puente de Hierro, Capicúa Tenis Club, Cueva Prieta y Camino Real, cruzando varias veces el cauce por una carretera amurada con postes de madera. Aparcamos el vehículo al comienzo de la pista de tierra. Itinerario: (13,08 h.) Estamos situados en la posición N 28º 29.982´ - W 016º 15.646´, a 129 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Iniciamos la ruta subiendo por la pista de tierra, dejando el cauce del barranco a la derecha. Pronto llegamos a una bifurcación y subimos por la izquierda, en dirección al Pozo El Valle. Debido a las recientes lluvias el agua baja con fuerza. La vegetación es típica de costa, predominando los cardones. En pocos minutos divisamos el muro del Embalse de Tahodio. Continuamos el ascenso, cruzamos por la presa al otro lado y llegamos a una edificación. En este punto podemos continuar por la izquierda, hacia la cabecera del embalse, o subir por la trasera de la casa. Si elegimos la primera opción, el sendero nos llevará a Jardina o a Pico del Inglés por Barranco del Valle. Si elegimos la segunda opción, ascenderemos por Valle Luis hacia Pico del Inglés, pasando por La Fortaleza o Cabezo del Viento. En el lateral derecho de la presa hay una vivienda con varios huertos, donde podemos observar plataneras y varios vegetales. En la orilla el palmeral se abre paso entre el cañaveral. Después de realizar un largo paseo por varios senderos y realizar las fotos correspondientes, volvemos al punto inicial. Introduction: Today we intend to make a hiking route Tahodio Ravine, located on the south side of the Anaga Rural Park and belongs to the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. If we choose the second option, Luis Valley to ascend Pico del Ingles, via La Fortaleza or Cabezo Wind. On the right side of the dam there is a house with several orchards, where we can see bananas and various vegetables. On the shore the way through the cane palm open. After making a long walk along several trails and perform the corresponding photos, we return to the starting point.
