El Tranvía Histórico.

El recorrido del histórico tranvía Nº 277 se realiza por la Av. Wheelwright desde Pte. Roca hasta Balcarce. Fue restaurado y puesto en valor para el “Bicentenario de la Independencia“ por la “Asociación Amigos del Riel”. La muestra se realiza en Av. Wheelwrigt entre Pte. Roca y Bv. Oroño. La creación de este sistema de transporte a mediados del siglo XIX produjo un cambio en los usos y costumbres de la ciudadanía. Fue Alfredo de Arteaga entre otros quien recibió la autorización del Gobierno Municipal para instalar el servicio y en 1872 se inaugura la ”Compañía Anónima Tramways del Rosario” cuyos primeros coches eran tirados por una yunta de caballos a los que guiaba el cochero y otras personas que colaboraban lo que lo hacía muy complicado y poco eficiente. Se construyeron varios ramales en diferentes trayectos. Un empresario de origen norteamericano el Sr. Rodrigo Ross inaugura la primera línea del “Tramway Anglo-Argentino” en el mes de mayo de 1886 y en el año 1905 se instala la primera línea eléctrica de la ciudad que comienza a funcionar en 1906 la que dejó de percibir ganancias a partir de 1927 ante la aparición de ómnibus particulares y se comienza a desmantelar progresivamente los tranvías y en 1960 se comenzó a desmantelar las vías . El que vemos hoy surge por iniciativa del Ing. Eduardo Firpo la réplica de un tranvía de 1910 aportando así un atractivo turístico más a la ciudad.
