At the Peak
It’s amazing to go up until the lighthouse, discover its paths and getting lost in its hiding places. The access is reached from the port and the marketplace.
One very friendly local signaled a sort of path to go up the ramp: a path made of slate so crumbly that even the animals make it creak as they pass. There is nothing more amazing…it is a vertical path excavated between the roofs and walls of the restaurants.
All the ashlars that form the steps are irregular, without any type of architectural law, giving both a sense of height and vertigo when looking back.
In the first hour of the morning, the mist that parts the city draws one of the best sights of the Basque Country: the town is diametrically divided into two parts, each with its own beach.
