Beautiful museum
The Palace of Los Superunda was one of the most interesting and enriching places I visited during my day-trip to Ávila. The building itself is an old palace that has been restored into the stately, modern museum which stands today and currently houses an impressive collection of works by the artist Guido Caprotti who once used the palace as his studio.
The exhibition halls circle around a covered central courtyard and are full of Caprotti's works, Impressionist-style paintings depicting typical scenes and characters from 19th century Spanish life. I was really surprised by the quality of the artworks and think that it is something of a crime that Caprotti is basically unknown outside of Ávila.
The second floor features a collection of personal items from the artist including tapestries and statues. The manager of the museum couldn't have been friendlier and has passion is infectious. I'd recommend that anyone who visits Ávila stop by this interesting and intimate museum.
