Contrasts

The source of the Cuervo River is located in the mountainous region of the Province of Cuenca (Serranía de Cuenca), at about 80 km from the city of Cuenca. It is very close to the Vega del Codorno, a place we visited on our motorbike trip through the Serranía de Cuenca. From Cuenca and Villalba de la Sierra, one can get there via Uña and La Toba; from Teruel or Guadalajara, via Tragacete and Beteta.

It is a spot of great natural beauty that is inside the mountainous region, with waterfalls falling in between cornices and creating great contrasts in the forest landscape and near the source. In order to get to the cave where the water pours out and to the source of the Cuervo River, one has to walk from the mountain path that goes through the woods and along the bank of the river until it ends at about 1,500 meters away from the parking lot, where the spring is to be found.

You Can't Put it in Words...

It is one of the most spectacular places in Castile-La Mancha, one of those that you wish you had seen before. It is quite close to Cuenca, at about 80 km, and it is a place you won't easily forget.

The road that takes one there is already full of nature, since it runs through the entire Natural Park. It is one of those roads which are actually enjoyable while driving. Afterwards one reaches a parking lot and, by the way, a couple of restaurants that serve nice local dishes ("ajo arriero", "morteruelo"...). All of this exists because the place is fantastic. A natural waterfall goes downhill through a beautiful face full of moss and plants and next to incomparable surroundings.

Quiet, Fresh, Relaxing Place

On the path to the source of the Cuervo River in Cuenca lies a quiet, fresh, relaxing spot. A place where silence accompanies the way. Only the sounds of the wind, animals and steps on the ground can be heard, and everything is surrounded by huge trees that make one feel like a insignificant element of nature compared to them. There are many possibilities of discovering hidden spots between them, as well as small springs of water.

Nacimiento del río cuervo

In the province of Cuenca there is a lovely corner by the source of the river Cuervo where you can go hiking and get lost in nature .....
