The best ceviche in Madrid
El Mono de la Pila is an absolutely amazing ceviche restaurant and one of the most recent additions to the ever-increasing line-up of casual-gourmet and street-food joints popping up inside the historic Mercado de Anton Martin. The menu is extremely simple: choose your seafood (white sea bass, shrimp, or octopus) and your sauce (leche de tigre with aji, chipotle with tomatoes and tamarind, coconut with mango and avocado, or a mix of four citrus juices) and you’re good to go! You can get the ceviche by itself or served on a bed of quinoa or coconut rice, something I’d recommend getting as the sauce is absolutely delicious and you’ll want something to sop it up!
