A sacred place with a show included

We are in the inredible archaeological site of Uxmal known as "the three times built". This place, called The Nunnery Quadrangle stands behind the Pyramid of the Magician with its big courtyard . It is a big open square of about 120meteres. From here you can see all the lovely structures that also have a lot of quarters. Hence the Spanish when they were comparing it to a convent. And so they called it: The House of the Nuns. To be more precise and say that you put yourself in the set include 5 distinct zones: The temple west of the Nunnery, Temple East in the Nunnery, South Temple and large Bow, Central Patio of the Quadrangle of Nuns and The Temple of Venus or North Temple Nunnery.

In this part I show her lovely decor. Everything is mixed: Grecas, snakes, lattices, Owls, human figures, heads of turtles and Chac masks of God. And what is the selling point of this place? Well that mixes the tourist with its share of show. From the Nunnery Quadrangle witnesses the light and sound show at Uxmal in the fantastic legends which are told Maya in the region that gave life to this mystical place. All lights, lighting goes beyond the quadrangle itself illuminating parts of the peripheries and temples. It is great to see!. It is daily at 19:00 during winter and 20:00 in summer time . I leave you in this corner several photos of the show at night in the quadrangle of the nuns and other day to give you an idea of how beautiful and sacred place.

It’s very hot, but it is totally worth it.

Excellent

There are a lot of bats and lizards around that get scared easily, so make sure you respect the wild life. A must when in Mexico. Make sure you hire a tour to understand everything.
