25 reviews of El Born

The casual chic center of Barcelona

A few minutes away from the Rambla of Barcelona, there is one of the trendiest neighborhood in the entire city: el Born. This medieval neighborhood is now the epicenter of good nightlife in the Catalan capital. Shops with style, restaurants with signature cuisine and tapas, elegant cafés and cultural life, everything to make you feel good. It's the place for those who think they have both a refined and relaxed taste, the casual chic center of Barcelona.

On the Born walk, apart from clothes and food shops, there are some small benches on which only sitting down is a nice experience, eating a good ice cream of those you find around while having a light conversation.

My trip was centered on this neighborhood

This summer I traveled to Barcelona for the first time. It went very well, as I had expected, but everything changed when I went to El Born. It became the center of the trip and I went there to walk the streets as many times as I could. I would finish visiting museums and other areas and go there to get coffee or sit on a bench. Incredible streets, unforgettable spots and I could even enjoy a street concert I loved.

Quiet and leisure time

El Born, together with the Gothic Quarter and El Raval, forms the old part of the city. It's relaxed, more for leisure than shopping.

It is full of restaurants, most with terraces in the shade since thee streets are narrow and the squares have trees. These terraces are very popular in the summer, day or night.

Part of the neighborhood was destroyed to build the big Ciutadella park, which is a five minute walk away and is also worth a visit. To try Catalan cuisine, there is El Taller de Tapas, and Origen 99.99%, two Catalan restaurants which now have various branches in the city and offer traditional Catalan cuisine with a modern touch.
