Creative home-style Canary Island food
Maria Hierro, known as Mariquita Hieroo, started a gastronomic tradition in Fuerteventura with her restaurant, El Cotillo.
Today their grandchildren continue the tradition with two more restaurants, El Cangrejo in Puerto del Rosario, the capital of the island, and the Anzuelo in Corralejo where we eat, or, better said, where we stuffed ourselves.
The terrace was practically hanging above the port, and from there you can see all the ferrys, windsurfers, canoes, and other boats happening in Corralejo.
They specialize in fish, shellfish, and traditional dishes from the Canary Islands. They served is a previously set menu with ten dishes to choose from: fruit salad, salmon and ham, lobster cocktail, stuffed peppers, stewed octopus, tuna tacos, seasoned tomato salad, beef, deserts, café con leche, and liquor from the Canary Islands.
