New record store in Madrid to check out!
El Almacén de Discos is brand new record store located con Calle Minas in the heart of Madrid's alternative Malasaña neighborhood and is a welcome addition in a city which is seriously lacking as far as good neighborhood record store go. Now, that's not to say that you should go to Almacén de Discos to find the latest release by your all the popular chart-topping groups; while the Almacén de Discos covers most genres, it does place a special emphasis on electronica. Perusing the bins, you'll find sections dedicated to techno, Detroit, house, Chicago house, hop-hop, disco...there's even a section devoted exclusively to Kraftwerk!
The prices are right on the mark, something unusual for a city like Madrid where a beaten up Stones re-print you'd find in the dollar bin in the US or UK can fetch up to 20 euros in many stores. The higher quality vinyls at Almacén de Discos are in the 18-32 euro range (very acceptable), but they also have lots of bins full of 2-3 euro records that collectors and crate-diggers will love to explore.
