Eglise Saint-Martial

Cette église fut édifiée au XIIème siècle et constituait avec sa petite chapelle le lieu de sépulture des seigneurs de Thenon. Le clocher se situe semble t-il à la place de l'ancien château, dont on retrouve les vestiges à proximité. Seul l'abside du XIIème siècle, soutenu par trois contreforts, a été préservé, l'édifice actuel datant en majeur partie du XVIIIème siècle. Le toit du clocher-porche a par exemple été rehaussé au début du XIXème siècle, ce qui lui donne cette forme si particulière. La nef, en forme de croix latine, possède quant à elle un arc triomphal en plein cintre et une voûte en cul de four, ainsi qu'un maître autel de Carrare de toute beauté, datant de 1882.

This church was Difie the Twelfth century and was with its small chapel the place of spulture lords of Thenon.
