A statue of great importance
This statue was erected in 1920 in memory of Edith Cavell, the brave nurse who helped British soldiers escape from German-occupied territory during World War One. She was captured and later executed by firing squad on October 12, 1915, and this statue is one of many commemorating her achievements. The statue has an inscription of her last words, which read, "Patriotism is not enough. I must not have hatred or bitterness against people."
