Hotel in the capital
Akureyri is the northern regional capital located at the bottom of the fjord Eyjafjördur. When we were there, we stayed in Hotel Edda Akureyri in the heart of the city. This hotel is a student residence for most of the year but operates as a hotel between June 14 and August 27. We stayed in a double room without a bathroom. There is a shared bathroom per floor and it is in very good condition. There was a slight smell of sulfur in the shower water but this comes from the volcanic activity in the region.
