Easter in the Quebrada de Humahuaca
Easter in Argentina falls in early autumn, for me the most precious time to walk through the Quebrada de Humahuaca. It hasn't yet turned cold, the poplars have not lost their golden leaves and the hills are silhouetted against a furious blue sky. It is interesting to see the traditions in this region, the result of the mixture between the Hispanic and the purely native. The quebradeños are culturally and religiously Catholics, but carry the blood of the original owners of this land. The variety that results from this mix is fascinating. Humahuaca, Tilcara, Purmamarca, Iruya, Maimará. Everyone prepares for the holidays with excitement.
