Dunseverick Castle
Ballymoney Castle and the peninsula where it is located was donated in 1962 to the government. A local farmer named Jack McCurdy donated it. The castle was occupied until its capture and destruction by Cromwell's troops in 1650, and gatelodge only ruins remain today. There was once a small residential tower until it fell to the sea in 1978. It was an ancient site that was "dominant" in Ireland. One of the royal roads from Tara. This ancient road was known as Slige Midluachra or High Kings Road. The castle had a well that existed on the north side, right near near the edge of the cliff. The well is called Tubber Phadrick, and it once was one of the wells "saints" of Ireland.
