The whiskey capital
Dufftown is considered by many to be the capital of whiskey. It was founded in 1817 by James Duff, and is where most British whiskey is exported from. There are 9 distilleries, although not all are open to visitors. You can visit the museum of whiskey, which houses tools for illegal production and do some shopping. The largest distillery is the Glenfiddich distillery.
