Quiet and soothing
Located in the extreme south of the city, outside the historic heart of Cambridge and facing the enormous Parker's Piece park, Downing College is undoubtedly one of our favourite places in the city. It's neglected by tourists (probably because it's so far from the main streets), and this college, founded in 1800, is particularly quiet and soothing. Deserted during our visit, we particularly liked the huge park and its stately majestic buildings.
