Dover Castle

Excellent

Even from the ferry from Calais (France) to Dover (UK), over the white cliffs, you can see the castle of Dover, on a green hill. Known as the "Key to England" because of its role in defending the country during many attempts to conquer the island. Inside: lighthouses, Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Norman buildings, and the basis of operations used in the Second World War. The central tower is awesome, definitely a place to visit for all lovers of history and British culture, like myself.

View of Dover Castle and Dover Seafront

Out walking on the 1st sunny & warm day of the year. Walked along the beach and noticed the wonderful view of the Historic Castle above the calm pond like sea. Amazing and relaxing view.

Overlooking the town of Dover and offering her protection, the castle of the city is one of the major landmarks and one of his (only?) Interests. Impressive for its size, with four square towers with battlements largely punitive and surrounded by a wall also very defensive, it offers the visitor a nice visit in perspective. The place is very well laid effect and enhanced with many fun aspects especially for children, who can learn the history and have fun. Admission is certainly expensive (more than 10 pounds per person) but the visit lasts several hours (there are two parts in particular that last 50 minutes each) and is a great discovery, it would be a shame to miss.
