District Archive of Bragança

1 review of District Archive of Bragança

Former Convent of San Francisco

The District Archive of Bragança, since 1999, has been in the premises of the former Convent of San Francisco. The creation of a district archive arose from the need to guard mainly ecclesiastical documents, confiscated after the 1910 Revolution. It has an extensive reference library with over 4,000 volumes of very varied topics: Judicial, Attorney, church, finance, local government history, etc. Some documents date from the tenth century. Entry is free. Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30-12:30 and 14:00-17:30.
