Love the Design District!
The Design District is the combination of Wynwood and Midtown. Both are up and coming neighborhoods that have transformed in the past few years to become a worldwide are destination. Midtown is more a hipster-type neighborhood with great restaurants and bars. I love spending a low key evening here, a big change from the typical Miami scene.
Wynwood is all art galleries and where you can find some great art painted right on the streets and buildings. They have a monthly artwalk where all the galleries are open to visit and many serve up free wine. Plus, it attracts all the food trucks of South Florida.
Overall, the Design district is where you'll find art, shopping and dining, all rolled into one spectacular package. Because this area has transformed into a "good" neighborhood, it still is surrounded by not so nice neighborhoods. Be careful after dark.
