Romantic atmosphere
If you opt to do a road trip through Provence, the city of Aix en Provence is a must. It is worth spending a night there and enjoying the romantic atmosphere of terraces and restaurants. "Hotel des Augustins", on the Cours Mirabeau, is a good place to stay downtown. It's in a historic building which was once an Augustinian convent (thus the name), which hosted Martin Luther himself. Good service, spacious rooms, and a ton of history within its walls.
