A New York style building

No, this is not the Empire State Building - but it is a skyscraper reminiscent of those in New York. In fact it was built and financed by a farmers' union, eager to demonstrate their strength and power. Locals say it was the first European skyscraper, and the name Boerontoren means farmers' tower. Sadly, it now houses a shopping centre, and you can't climb to the top to admire the view.

Europe's first skyscraper was built in Antwerp in 1932. The Farmer Tower is named after the former Farmers Union, the largest investor in the construction of this building. Although they say that is so called because it looks like a chubby monster ... Hehe. Antwerp citizens are very fond of this tower, even a couple of years ago the "official poet" of Antwerp made a poem for Boerentoren, in which he admitted being smitten building of the tower of the cathedral ... Now a bank.

El primer rascacielos de Europa

Excellent
Completed in 1931, the Boerentoren building (literally "Peasants Tower") was the first skyscraper in Europe. It measures almost 88 meters and is made in Art Deco style. At the moment, you cannot visit inside, but you can admire from the outside at the end of Meir Boulevard.
