An Oasis of Peace in the Media
Dar Cherifa is easily the most beautiful place in the world to have a coffee (and I'm taking into consideration the cafes of Paris, Lisbon, and San Francisco!). Dar Cherifa is a beautifully restored riad located about a 10-15min. stroll from the Djemaa El Fnaa plaza in the Medina that's been converted into an elegant literary cafe. On the ground floor, there are gorgeous white sofas and tables where you can have a drink, order some food, or enjoy the displays of modern art. I didn't try the food, but from what I could tell on the other tables, it looked like a tasty French-Moroccan fusion. They also have a wide variety of teas and coffees (I'd recommend the Moroccan coffee and the Saffron tea) as well as wine and beer, something hard to find in Marrakesh, at least outside of the sleazy dive bars around the Djemaa el Fnaa.
