Dances in the Palace of Bafut
The visit to Bafut palace is complemented with a rendition of their ritual dances. These have been traditionally held by a "secret sect" whose members "are not known". They appear in big ceremonies and rituals hidden behind masks of sacred animals (elephant, crocodile) and suits made entirely of feathers ... All this is complemented by something like bracelets made with large flat seeds that produce a jumping rhythmic sound. Although a bit "touristy" they do the dance for visitors. It is truly curious and even fascinating to see how they move and jump and the gestures they make. They are also very imposing as they approach you with those beautiful masks.
