2 reviews of Daly Waters

Famous for its decorations

A mere 3 kilometres from the Stuart Highway, on the road linking Darwin to Alice Springs, is the charismatic town of Daly Waters. The detour is worth it to see the charming, old-fashioned surroundings: the old traffic lights, the telephone exchange booth, the bowling ... the star is the Daly Waters pub, famous for the decorations left by passersby, including notes, flags, hats, and even underwear.

The old pub

This remote area of Australia is definitely on the path of explorers. The Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory is worth following, in search of the detour that will lead you to the oldest pub in this part of the country. It has become a legend, and every visitor leaves a memento, from tickets to items of clothing. Visit it for its history, but you can also enjoy a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs after a night at the campsite next door. A good spot for a break before continuing your journey.
