A Bouquet of Red Houses
After traveling the overwhelming and wild landscape of Cabo del Vidio, Cudillero seemed to me like a warm nest. Crammed in the sides of green mountains, the town is a bouquet of red, white and blue houses that looks into the sea. Cudillero is made for walking.
Even though there is a parking in the new port, there is nothing better to park the car after the town El Pito and go down its main road. Then you start to discover it slowly. The streets that go down the mountain become steep passageways and never-ending staircases. From the balconies and windows of the houses hang the “curadillo”, the fish left there to dry. You can also see tackles and hooks, large fishing poles and the nets left to dry in the sun. Everything speaks of a fishing tradition that is part of the “pixueta” (name given to the people born in this town) soul.
