1 review of The Cottage Restaurant

the service was friendly and fast.

The Cottage Restaurant is a small restaurant which is situated on the ground floor of a typical house in Inveraray. It is located next to the church, in the center of the town. We went to eat there basically because all the restaurants of the town that we saw seemed really expensive for what they offered. Scotland is generally much cheaper than England, but as Inveraray is a slightly touristy town, many of the restaurants take advantage of the short season of good weather. We ordered fish and chip's which came served with tea. The fish was classic, and nothing special, but it was a decent price.

We also tried a stuffed potato, roasted in the oven with Haggis. The haggis is a Scottish national dish, a sheep lung filled with other guts and lots of different herbs. It tastes much better than it looks. We also tried the sausage roll, which was a strange bread with a flat square sausage, I must admit it was rather disappointing. The whole meak cost us less than 15 pounds for two at lunchtime. There are not many tables and it was full, but the service was friendly and fast.
