A town where we were treated like kings
We came to this village in July of the year 2007. It is in the heel of the boot , close to Bari. We got there by ferry from Corfu... We went to Conversano because one of those who came with me on the trip has family there. It is a big city of about 26,000 people. Upon arrival to the village, we went from Bari by train, we saw for the first time Uncle Pietro. The welcome was incredible, all the people who came knew the nephew of Aunt Nina with 2 friends ... 3 days we ate all day. We were treated like kings, and surrounding villages such as Putignano, Rutigliano and beaches like Cozze, were within minutes of Conversano.
It is a town whose center is the place where there is a Romanesque cathedral and the beautiful Norman castle. Not far from here we find the Benedictine monastery and church of Saints Cosmas and Damian and Santa Caterina. In summer, starting at 2 pm and until 7 it is a desert town .... This is due to the sweltering heat of up to 45 degrees, at least when we were there. It is best to go to the beach for a swim in the Adriatic. We were present at a dinner held only every 25 years, it is the party they do for those who emigrated many years ago. . We had estate, resturants and a moving environment, including speeches ... not very patriotic. And so I just stay in this town ... At that I hope to return someday.
