Town that's split in two
Contesti, pronounced Contesht, is a town more or less an hour away from Bucharest,there's not much of interest, but as I was travelling to Transylvania, I spent some time there. What struck me on entering the town, it appears as if it has been split in two. On one side you have the "normal" people, living in a modern part with decent houses, paved streets, schools and the city, and on the other side you have the Rom part. The Roms are considered to be second class citizens in Romania, and they themselves built the neighborhood that has no roads, let alone a school. It's very sad because the next region seems very rich, with fertile meadows and crops, there are animals, cattle, and no one dies of hunger.
