Cathedral remains
Alongside Camões Square and D. Antonio José de Almeida Garden is a square that's the rear access to the Municipal Cultural Center, where there are archaeological excavations under a series of metal catwalks. According to the signs they are fragments of an eighteenth century cathedral that were found in 2004 and are still being worked on. The temple was a Latin cross, with a long nave and transept, which had the main access on Praça Camões.
